VISUAL DIRECTION: @victoriaeverest_ as the Girl, Be Too Much quote page
Research & Strategy, 20 Oct 2026. Direction only. Visual Studio builds the assets. GBTM visual system only, nothing from her other brand.
Sources: hardback spec Rev. A (attachment 01M5DBD63DXGRRXAJZDMYZX3NX.pdf); type note of 12 Sep (attachment 01M5DBCXK4W5VAR29V84AKZF18.pdf); Treatments A/B ([ED 036] in ../INSIGHTS.md, report4); the [DD] cream-and-ink cards.
1. The idea
Every post should look like a page torn from the book. The feed becomes the book's interior: cream paper, warm black type and a single gold accent. Someone who scrolls the grid should feel they've read a chapter, then want the object.
2. Colour (from the hardback spec, exact)
| Role | Name | HEX (screen) | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ground | Everest Cream | #F4EFE4 | about 80% of every frame. Never pure white. |
| Type | Warm black | #141210 | All text. Never #000000 (spec). |
| Accent | Antique Gold | #B18F52 | One word or rule per post at most. On screen it stands in for foil, so add a subtle gradient or sheen in motion only. Never a gold background. |
| Inverse (optional) | Black ground + cream type + gold | #141210 / #F4EFE4 / #B18F52 | Use for at most 1 in 9 grid tiles, for "THE LAST WORD" and faith lines. |
| The spec rejects the cool ChatGPT palette (#FAFAFA / #0F0F0F) because gold looks brown against it. |
3. Type (the book's three fonts only, from the 12 Sep note)
- Bodoni Moda for headlines and quote lines. The "Girl," always sits in Bodoni.
- Fraunces for body text, slides 2+ and italic accents (gold italic for the one emphasised word).
- Space Grotesk for small caps and letter-spaced labels (CHAPTER FIVE · GRIEF, PERMISSION, REFRAME, THE LAST WORD). These labels are in the book itself.
- No script, no handwriting (Caveat), no Playfair or Roboto. The 12 Sep note removes these from the site too.
- Hierarchy: the quote line is 70–90 pt on a 1080×1350 canvas, at most 12 words, no more than 6 lines. Labels are 18–22 pt with +200 tracking. The footer is 16 pt Space Grotesk.
4. Formats
- Feed: 1080×1350 (4:5) for cards and carousels. Reels and stories: 1080×1920 (9:16), with text kept in the central 1080×1350 so the grid crop works.
- Footer on every book post (small, bottom centre):
GIRL, BE TOO MUCH · VICTORIA EVEREST. On book-in-hand posts addA MANIFESTO FOR THE WOMAN THEY TRIED TO REDUCE. - Page reference top right in Space Grotesk, e.g.
p. 43. This makes the book feel real and quotable, and works as social proof without any numbers.
5. Six templates
| ID | Name | Layout | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| T1 | Girl-Bold (Treatment A) | Cream ground. Oversized Bodoni "Girl, ___." Small supporting line in Fraunces. Label at top. This matches the [DD] winner cards. | 8 AM cards; "Girl, …" lines |
| T2 | Serif-Gold (Treatment B) | Cream ground. Centred Bodoni quote with one word in gold Fraunces italic. Letter-spaced chapter label above, thin gold rule below. | 8 AM cards; reflective lines |
| T3 | Permission List carousel | Slide 1 is the hook line as a T1/T2 cover that works on its own. Slides 2–8 each carry one line of the book's "PERMISSION / You are allowed to…" lists, verbatim. Last slide is the cover image plus CTA. | 2 PM carousels |
| T4 | Reframe two-card | Slide 1 "REFRAME" label plus the old belief. Slide 2 the book's reframe line (e.g. p120). Optional slide 3 with the cover. | 2 PM carousels, Ch 5/10 grief and boundary lines |
| T5 | Book-in-Hand | Real photo: her hand, the hardback on cream linen or warm wood, natural window light, one quote overlaid in T2 style, or the open page itself in shot. Signed-copy and reader-reaction posts (reader's photo, with permission). | Thu reader slot, Sat signed slot, launch/BF/Christmas |
| T6 | Quote Reel | 7–12 s. Cream page-turn or slow push-in on an open spread, or her b-roll graded warm. Kinetic type: the quote builds line by line, 1 line per 1.2–1.5 s. Gold word lands last. End card is the cover plus "Comment BOOK". | 8 PM daily |
| Story | Story frames | Cream backgrounds, Space Grotesk labels, link sticker in black. | Daily |
6. Grid rhythm (3 posts a day = one grid row a day)
- Each daily row is card (cream) · carousel cover (cream, different treatment) · reel cover (cream page or her face).
- Alternate T1 and T2 so two neighbouring tiles never share a treatment. This is report4's rule for the book, applied to the grid.
- At most one black (inverse) tile in any 3×3 block. Her face (T5/Reel 01) appears in at least one tile every 3 rows, so the page stays human.
- Pin: (1) Reel 01, (2) the dedication carousel (p7), (3) the best-performing card from launch week, refreshed with "Comment BOOK".
7. Motion rules (quote reels)
- No zooms or shakes, nothing faster than 0.3 s. Easing: soft ease-in-out.
- Type appears by fade plus 8 px rise, never typewriter clicks. Gold shimmer only on the single gold word.
- Audio: soft piano, strings or room tone from licensed libraries. Use her voice reading the line when she can (VO beats music for a book). Check music rights on every rerun.
- First frame must already show the hook line (strangers decide in the first 1–2 s). Captions burned in. Respect the safe zone: nothing in the bottom 20% or the right 12%.
- Length 7–12 s for quote reels and 30–40 s for Reel 01. Loop-friendly: the last frame matches the first.
8. Cover and mockups
- Use real photos of the real book first. Only use a render or mockup if no photo exists, and never show a mockup finish the print-on-demand copy doesn't have. report4: "no foil promises the printed copy cannot keep". If the Amazon copy has printed gold rather than foil, photograph that.
- Show the cover with the title and author fully legible, plus the subtitle wherever there's room, because of the name collision.
- Props: cream linen, fresh flowers, her mother's apple, plum or fig trees and the garden (pp67–69) for Fatma posts, a cup of tea, hands. No juice, coconuts, herbs, food plates or anything from her other brand in shot.
- Signed copies: a close-up of her pen on the title page. No visible address labels or postcodes on parcels.
9. Do and don't
Do: use verbatim book lines with page refs; keep one idea per frame; leave plenty of cream space; use gold only as an accent; show her face often; add alt text that includes "Girl, Be Too Much by Victoria Everest"; pick a Bodoni weight that stays readable at thumbnail size. Don't: use stock quote-page clichés (marble, pink script, sunsets), more than 2 fonts on a slide, pure white or pure black, CMYK "mustard" gold, emojis on the card, follower or view numbers, star ratings, "bestseller" (unless Amazon actually shows the badge), prices, other-brand visuals, other authors' quotes, or any street address.
